Turning a simple box from a log

Take a simple log
|
Mark both ends of the log in the centre
|
Make an indentation in the centre
|
Similarly at the other end
|
Choose correct speed setting
|
Choose correct tools
|
Centre log on Lathe
|
Set Tool rest and turn to a cylinder
|
Square ends
|
Measure chuck
|
Mark Ends
|
Turn down to fit chuck
|
Big enough for 2? Mark and turn down centre
|
Place in chuck and mark for lid and base
|
Turn lid shape
|
Choose Sandpaper
|
Not much required
|
Sand down
|
Remove marks
|
Seal lid
|
Part off lid
|
Remove Lid
|
Sand down inner lid and seal
|
Turn inside of box
|
Measure depth
|
Friction Polish or oil wood
|
Finish as you like it
|
Sand down inner lid and seal
